Seton Hill vs. Roberts Wesleyan

The Game Story:
Men’s lacrosse took on the Raiders of Roberts Wesleyan at home on Saturday afternoon. The Griffins were able to earn the 15-9 victory despite the Raiders late fourth quarter run. With the win the Griffins record advances to 4-3 overall.

In first quarter action the Griffins came out strong scoring four goals in the first four minutes of play. Matt Delmonico put an impressive three goals in the back of the net and James Delaney scored one to take a 4-0 lead with 11:05 on the clock. Minutes later David Smith scored for the Raiders to put them on the board at the 8:19 mark. Before the end of the first quarter Roberts Wesleyan was able to put one more in off a goal from Craig Petit to make it a 4-2 game.

During the second quarter Seton Hill struck first off a Marc Piche goal assisted by Dylan Lefebrve advancing their lead 5-2. The Raiders answered back with a goal at the 12:37 mark. Seton Hill was able to close out the end of the first half with two more goals from Kevin Welty assisted by Greg Chaples and another goal from Marc Piche from Kevin Cala to take a 7-3 lead going into halftime.

To start the third quarter Roberts Wesleyan scored first with 10:37 on the clock. One minute later the Griffins answered back with another Delaney goal and a bullet in the back of the net from Dylan Lefebrve assisted by Delmonico to increase the Seton Hill advantage 9-4. Neither team could get one past the keeper over the next couple minutes. It wasn’t until the 5:45 mark that Anthony Nucci Lauria scored for the Raiders to make it a 9-5 contest. Once again the Griffins retaliated with two goals to give them a comfortable 11-5 lead entering the fourth quarter.

However, the Raiders came out fighting in the fourth scoring three goals in four minutes to cut the Griffins lead 11-8. The Griffins scored and then the Raiders scored right after to make it a three goal difference 12-9 with 7:49 remaining in the game. The Griffins were able to gain some momentum scoring three goals in the remaining five minutes of play to close out the day with a 15-9 victory over the Raiders.

In the win Matt Delmonico had an impressive day scoring five goals and recording one assist. James Delaney also had a notable day offensively scoring three goals and earning four assists. Marc Piche finished the game with three goals and Dylan Lefebrve added one goal and three assists. The Goalie Christopher Ilse earned six saves for the day. The Griffins will be back in action on Tuesday, March 27 as they play host to the Cardinals of Wheeling Jesuit University at 4:00PM.
