Grand Canyon vs. Notre Dame De Namur

The Game Story:
The Grand Canyon University lacrosse team lost its season opener to Notre Dame de Namur University, 16-4, today at the GCU Soccer Field.

Two of the Antelopes' goals were scored by sophomore attacker Jacob Hippensteel (Chandler, AZ/Chandler HS). The others were scored by senior attacker Scott Franks (pictured, Lakewood, OH/St. Ignatius/Mercyhurst North-East) and freshman attacker Konner Klein (Scottsdale, AZ/Desert Mountain HS). Sophomore midfielder Trey Whistle (Springdale, AR/Har-Ber HS) recorded an assist.

GCU sophomore goalkeeper Andrew Hunter (Scottsdale, AZ/Desert Mountain HS) had 17 saves.

The Argonauts outshot the 'Lopes, 50-19. They also won 18 of 23 face-offs and were successful on all 34 of their clears.

Notre Dame de Namur got three goals from midfielder Conrad Clevlen and two each from attacker Derek Kimbrough, attacker Nicholas Peterson, midfielder Ryan Hulsey, midfielder Ryan Jones and attacker Drew Comeau.

GCU's next game is an exhibition against UNLV at 1 p.m. next Saturday, Feb. 13, at the GCU Soccer Field.
