|The Moccasins rallied from four goals down in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough as fifth ranked Merrimack held on for a 12-11 victory. With the win, Merrimack improves to 1-0, while the Mocs’ record drops to 1-4.|
The Mocs trailed 8-4 with 10:31 left in the game, when Cam Holding connected with the back of the net for his second goal of the day. Corey Brown cut the lead to 8-6 on a goal with 9:47 left. Holding then scored back-to-back goals to tie the game at 8-8 with 6:03 remaining. Merrimack’s Brad McAdam broke the tie, scoring the go ahead goal with 5:27 left. The Warriors went ahead 12-9 before the Moccasins picked up two goals in the final seconds for the final 12-11 score.
Holding finished the game with four goals, giving him 19 for the season. That breaks the FSC record for most goals in a season set last year by Seabrooke Carter with 18. Carter had three goals in today’s contest.
FSC Goalie Andrew Almansberger finished the game with 17 saves.
The Moccasins return to action Thursday at 7 p.m. at Bryant Stadium against Pace University.
