Dominican (ca) vs. Notre Dame De Namur

The Game Story:
NOVATO, Calif. Zach Rodriguez and Reed Upson combined for seven goals but it wasn't enough as the Dominican University of California men's lacrosse team fell 21-11 to Notre Dame de Namur University on Saturday afternoon.

NDNU (2-1) struck first when Drew Corneau scored his first of four goals for the Argonauts. Upson scored his first goal of the day a few minutes later to tie the game and get Dominican on the scoreboard. Corneau and Upson exchanged two more goals to make the game 2-2. Corneau netted another goal and NDNU added three goals to begin the second quarter to push the Argonaut lead to 6-2. Cam Evangelho scored to trim the NDNU lead 8-4 at halftime.

The Argonauts dominated the third quarter, scoring six unanswered goals. Jim Little scored both of his goals in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter and scoring exploded from both sides in the final quarter. The two teams each scored seven goals in the final quarter but the Penguins were unable to overcome NDNU's quick start.

Rodriguez led the Penguins with four goals. Upson added a hat trick in the loss. In addition to Little's and Evangelho's goals, Kyle Mitchell also found the back of the net.

Sam Darrow made 10 saves and took the loss in a complete game.

Dominican next faces Cal-Berkeley in exhibition play on Friday, Feb. 26. The game will played under the lights at San Rafael High School. Faceoff is set for 7:00 p.m
