The Game Story:
The goals kept coming in today's contest at Dominican University of California, as Chestnut Hill College controlled a 13-4 halftime lead before completing their California sweep with a 19-13 victory. Senior attack Craig Owen (Glenolden, Pa.) led the Griffins with six goals and an assist, but he received plenty of support with senior attack Shane Morlock (Whitby, Ontario) and senior midfielder Michael Duddy (Toms River, N.J.) providing three goals apiece.

Morlock and Duddy scored the contest's first two goals to give Chestnut Hill College (2-1) a 2-0 advantage with 5:50 remaining in the first quarter. Dominican University of California (1-1) answered just twenty second later (5:30), 2-1, but the Griffins book ended the quarter gap with back-to-back goals for a 6-1 edge with 13:53 remaining in the first half. The Penguins were able to cut the deficit to 6-3 by 10:36, but a 7-1 Griffin run closed the half on a 13-4 margin. A Penguin third quarter narrowed the gap to 15-9, but a tightly played fourth quarter left the final at 19-13, Griffins.

Freshman attack Cody Bernstein (Kirkland, W.V.) led the Penguins with five points; three goals and two assists. Three others recorded two goals apiece. Playing the opening 26:49, junior goalkeeper Sean Donohue (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) made seven saves and recorded a ground ball in the loss (1-1).

Owen took 11 shots to record his career-high six goals; he also recovered a ground ball. Morlock added three assists and a ground ball to his hat trick while Duddy recorded and assist in addition to his. Junior attack Michael Melnychenko (St. Catharines, Ontario) provided three assists while freshman attack Tanner Fisher (Port Coquitlam, British Columbia) and senior midfielder Mark Lively (Anmore, British Columbia) offered two goals apiece. Senior goalkeeper Dakota Maurer (Lititz, Pa.) earned the win (2-1) by totaling 15 saves.

The men's lacrosse team returns to the east coast to visit Seton Hill University for a 1:00 p.m. contest on Saturday, March 9.
