The Game Story:
SAN RAFAEL, Calif. The Dominican University of California men's lacrosse team notched its first victory of the season with a 20-6 routing of Southwestern University (Texas) at Forest Meadows Field on Sunday afternoon.

The Pirates (0-3) took the early advantage, netting a pair of goals in the first quarter to one by Zach Rodriguez for the Penguins (1-2). The Dominican offense awoke after that, as Jim Little's goal kciked off a dozen unanswered Penguins goals, spanning from the six-minute mark in the second quater to five minutes into the fourth quarter.

The Pirates, in their inaugural season this year, were limited to 23 shots while Dominican reached double digit shooting in three quarters for a total of 43 shots. Dominican also dominated at the midline, winning 16 of 24 faceoffs.

Reed Upson led the Penguins with a half dozen goals. Little and Rodriguez each added four goals while Little tallied three assists and Rodrigeuz made two. Kyle Mitchell and Cam Evangelho both notched hat tricks. Mitchell added two assists while Joey Sullivan and Corey Whelan each added one assist in the victory.

The Penguins will embark on a four game road trip to New York where Dominican faces Dominican College on March 7, Molloy College on March 9, Adelphi University on March 11, and Mercy College on March 13.
