Lenoir Rhyne vs. Lake Erie

The Game Story:
HICKORY, N.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne University men's lacrosse team downed the Lake Erie College men's lacrosse team 10-9 Wednesday afternoon (March 14) at Moretz Stadium.

The Bears (2-6) led for most of the game, but a late comeback by the Storm (1-2) pushed the game to overtime.

Reagan Harding lead the Storm with four goals on the day. John Remsen and Miles Britton each had two goals for the Bears.

L-R capitalized on two of their extra-man opportunities in the first quarter.

Remsen scored with 11:01 to play in the first quarter and Britton scored the second extra-man goal at the 5:13 mark, giving the Bears a 3-1 lead.

After Harding scored with 58 seconds to play in the half, Keegan Bal forced a turnover deep in L-R territory. He fed Andrew Stockton, who made the score 5-4 before the break.

L-R started the second half with two quick goals.

Tyler Botts won the groundball from the opening faceoff and fed Connor Squires who netted the close-range shot just 13 seconds into the third quarter.

Tyler Kotch scored his fifth goal of the season at the 13:34 mark, and Imari Davis scored his first on the season to make the score 8-4 with 11:28 left in the third.

After that, Lake Erie held the Bears to only one goal.

Bal and Matthew Curcio kept the comeback going for Lake Erie with goals in the fourth, bringing the Storm within one.

Harding tied the game with 1:52 remaining in regulation. The goal was his fourth of the game, and sent the game into overtime.

The Bears started the period with possession because of a foul at the end of regulation. Gus Ratcliff took the ball and quickly found Ned Kaish, who gave L-R the win 10 seconds into the extra period.

Lake Erie outshot L-R 46-25, but Alex Squires had 14 saves on the day.

The Storm will play at Coker College on Saturday, March 17, to wrap up its Spring Break trip.
