Shorter vs. Ohio Valley

The Game Story:
ROME -- Matt Kristiansen scored four goals, Kyle Van Kauwenberg added three more and Shorter University improved to 4-4 overall with a 16-6 victory over Ohio Valley on Wednesday night at Ben Brady Field.

The Hawks, winners of two straight, improved to 6-1 all-time at Ben Brady with a dominating performance, one in which Shorter outshot Ohio Valley 49-18 and scored the first eight goals of the game.

Only two goals from Zakk McCarthy in the final six minutes -- the last came with :08 left in the first half -- kept Ohio Valley from being shut out in the first half. Shorter scored the only goal of the third period to go up 9-2 then scored three of the first four goals in the fourth quarter to take a commanding 12-3 lead.

Nine different players scored for Shorter, including Scott Dangel and Jarrad Hinds, who each pitched it with two goals. Michael Matthews, Ben Janes, Jordan Butz, Hunter Rodgers and Kyle Morris also scored goals for the Hawks.

Erik Carson played the first half and allowed just two goals while making seven saves. Matthew Eason took over in the second half and made four stops.

The Hawks next travel to Tampa on Sunday, March 11 for a 7 pm face off
