ROCHESTER, N.Y. (March 2, 2013) – Freshman Dom Cianfarano scored six goals to lead Roberts Wesleyan past American International (Mass.) College this afternoon, 10-6.

The win was a milestone as it marked the Redhawks’ first-ever win against an NCAA Division II opponent.

Cianfarano scored his six goals off of just 10 shots in a game that saw five different goal scorers for the home team.

After Cianfarano game the Redhawks a 2-1 lead in the first period, London Booker and Craig Petit each scored to give Roberts Wesleyan a 4-1 lead.

The visiting Yellow Jackets made things close after Nick Amendt scored with 4:53 left in the third period, making it a 7-5 Roberts Wesleyan lead.

Down the stretch however, the Redhawks would extend the lead with goals by Brett Capps and Cody Lewis to secure the win.

Matt Hamilton picked up the win after making seven saves in the first half before freshman Keith Keehn played the entire second half.

The Rehdakws outshot American International 39 to 28 in addition to putting 16 shots on goal compared to the Yellow Jackets’ 15.

Roberts Wesleyan also had the edge in groundballs (47 to 38) and caused turnovers (7 to 4).

The win gives the Redhawks their first win of the season, giving them a record of 1-2.

Next week will be a busy one as the team travels to take on SUNYIT on Tuesday before visiting No. 2 Le Moyne College the following day. The Redhawks will then return home on Saturday when they host Walsh (Ohio) Universty at 2pm.
