The Game Story:
WATERBURY, Conn. The Post University men's lacrosse team dropped its season finale on Friday afternoon to #7 NYIT, 18-4, at home. The Eagles close out their inaugural season with a record of 4-11. Post had the Bears on their heels early. After falling behind 1-0 on a goal by Luke Miller, the Eagles answered back with two goals to take the lead. Post had three straight shots on goal and junior Brian Beatson (Fairfax, Va.) put the home team on the board off a pass from sophomore Shane McKay (Hempstead, N.Y.). Freshman Corry Boyle (Andover, N.J.) won the ensuing faceoff and classmate Tim Wright (Waterloo, N.Y.) beat the keeper to put Post in front 2-1 with 7:21 left in the first quarter. The lead didn't last long as Miller scored again for the Bears on their next possession and NYIT closed out the quarter with six straight goals to take a 7-2 lead at the break. Freshman Alex Brownlee (Syracuse, N.Y.) came from behind the net to score early in the second quarter. Beatson added his second later in the period to cut the deficit to 8-4, but Post would not score again. Boyle picked up nine of the Eagles' 22 ground balls on the day. He also won 10 faceoffs, including four of five in the second quarter. Wright and Brownlee each had five shots. As a team Post had 20 shots with 12 on target. Junior Anthony DeRosa (Toms River, N.J.) stopped a season-high 23 shots. Brownlee and freshman Kyle Shannon (Stanhope, N.J.) finished season with 35 goals apiece to lead the squad. Wright led the team with 18 assists. Boyle had a team-high 62 ground balls and freshman Jack Kearney (Sandy Hook, Conn.) had 20 caused turnovers. At halftime Post's lone senior, Angel Lastra (Wharton, N.J.), was honored with a brief ceremony in his final game.
