The Game Story:
ALFRED, N.Y. - Vito DeMola (Holtsville, N.Y.) scored three goals, including the game-winner with less than four minutes left to send Hartwick to a 7-6 victory over Alfred in an Empire 8 Conference men's lacrosse match-up, Saturday.

The Hawks, who trailed by as many as three, were tied 5-5 heading into the fourth quarter. DeMola opened scoring in the final frame with 12 minutes left with a man-up goal. The Saxons knotted the game at 6-6 moments later at 10:14 on an unassisted goal by Justin Kieffer. With 3:05 remaining, DeMola posted his 40th of the season for the game-winner. With the win, Hartwick finishes the 2008 campaign with a 5-8 mark, 3-5 in the Empire 8 Conference, while Alfred falls to 3-7 overall, 1-6 in league action.

Alfred scored the game's first two goals. Andy Haynes opened the scoring 1:02 into the game and the Saxons upped the advantage at 2:18 on Kieffer's first of two goals on the afternoon. Hartwick got on the board with 1:22 left in the opening period as Dylan D'Alessio (Huntington, N.Y.) beat Adam Schultz for his second goal of the campaign. The period ended with Alfred leading 2-1.

After the Saxons increased the lead to 4-1 on back to back goals by Marc Zoyhofski, the Hawks answered with three consecutive markers to tie the game at 4-4. DeMola started the rally with 4:11 left in the period, while Matt Shellard (Latham, N.Y.) tallied his fifth of the year before intermission to pull the Hawks within 4-3.

At 10:55 of the third quarter, Brandon Wilk (Hillsborough, N.J.) took a feed from Brendan Hamel (Hingham, Mass.) to tie the contest 4-4. After Alfred regained the lead at 2:09, senior Mike Robustello (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) once again tied the game with his seventh of the year 53 seconds later.

John Meade (Fire Island, N.Y.) made 10 stops for Hartwick in the victory, while Schultz saved 16 for the Saxons in the loss.
