Late Goal Lifts Drew Past DeSales in MAC Lacrosse Action
Senior Brian Kuttler scored one goal and had three assists in the loss to Drew on Wednesday afternoon.




Center Valley, PA (March 30, 2005) Ė The DeSales University menís lacrosse team rallied for a tie late in the fourth quarter but Drew University answered with an extra-man goal with 1:46 left on the clock to earn an 8-7 win in the MAC contest played on Wednesday afternoon on Fasching Fields.

Gil Arbitsman scored the game-winner with 1:46 left after DeSales (1-3, 0-2 MAC) had committed its sixth penalty of the game with 2:01 left to play. Arbitsman scored unassisted and it was his second goal of the game, both of which were of the extra-man variety.

The Bulldogs had rallied to tie the game with three consecutive goals to end the third period and start the fourth. Junior Chris Laveglia (Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) scored back-to-back goals off assists from senior Brian Kuttler (Doylestown, PA/Archbishop Wood) to make it a 7-6 game and Kuttler scored unassisted at the 4:06 mark to tie the game at seven before Drew (3-1, 2-0 MAC) scored late to record the win.

DSU led throughout much of the first half and were ahead 3-1 before the Rangers scored five straight goals and held the Bulldogs scoreless to take its largest lead of the game at 6-3 with 12:48 left in the third period.

Laveglia led DeSales with three goals and Kuttler added one goal and three assists in the loss. Sophomore Andrew Stamatelos (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West), freshman Jay Young (Pittstown, NJ/North Hunterdon) and freshman Jim Ramsey (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge) also scored goals for the Bulldogs. Stamatelos and Young also added assists and sophomore Ben Conroy (Easton, PA/Moravian Academy) made 13 saves in between the pipes.

Arbitsman and David Elam scored twice and Dan Moffo led the Ranger attack with three goals and one assist. Chris Kidwell added a goal and Robert Budziszewski and Phil Rosenau dished out assists in the win. Jason Woodford was fantastic in net, recording 13 saves.
DeSales returns to action on Thursday, March 31st as they host Alvernia College in a non-league contest beginning at 3:30 pm.
