|Center Valley, PA (April 4, 2007) Ė The DeSales University menís lacrosse had won four straight in its match up with local rival and winless Moravian College on Wednesday afternoon but the Greyhounds found a good time to earn its first win of the season halting DSUís winning streak with an 8-4 win in an MAC Conference game on a soggy afternoon.|
The Bulldogs fall to 7-3 overall and 2-2 in the MAC, while the Greyhounds improve to 1-8 overall and 1-3 in the MAC. DSU out-shot the Hounds, 44-26, and collected more ground balls (52-45) than the visitorís but the Bulldogs were on the short end of the stick on the scoreboard at the final horn. Benjamin Larson was terrific in between the pipes for Moravian stopping 18 shots as compared to just seven saves for DSUís Jarryd Stamatelos (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West).
Moravian took control early opening up a 3-0 first quarter lead thanks to two goals within the first minute of the game and never really looked back. The lead was 5-2 at the half and swelled to 8-3 after three periods.
Scoring for the Bulldogs were sophomore Joshua Van Hart (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees), junior Dan Thomer (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) and junior Kevin Thomer (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan). Sophomore Matthew Brancaccio (Greenvale, NY/North Shore) had three assists and D. Thomer also added an assist in the loss.
DSU returns to action on Wednesday, April 11th when they travel to FDU-Florham for another MAC Conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
