The Game Story:
Fourth Quarter Surge Leads Men's Lax Past Gordon, 10-2

BABSON PARK, Mass. -- Babson College scored eight goals in the fourth quarter to defeat visiting Gordon College, 10-2, in a non-conference menís lacrosse contest on Thursday afternoon. The win snapped a four-game skid for the Beavers (3-5), while the Fighting Scots fell to 2-5.

Gordon took a 1-0 lead four and a half minutes into the contest, as junior Dan Mitchell (Newtown Square, Pa.) scored what would turn out to be the only goal of the first half. Babson eventually tied the contest on a goal by senior tri-captain Ted Barbeau (Longmeadow, Mass.), as he scored off a drive down the right side with 13:43 left in the third quarter.

The Beavers took the lead for good in the closing minutes of the third, as senior tri-captain Keith Whittier (Durham, N.H.) intercepted a pass in Babsonís defensive zone and charged upfield. He then lofted a perfect pass over the defense and into the waiting hands of senior tri-captain Brian Collins (Needham, Mass.), who placed a perfect shot into the upper left corner with 3:37 left to give his team a 2-1 advantage.

The floodgates finally opened for Babson in the fourth, as the Beavers scored five unanswered goals in a six-minute span. Junior Jared Connell (Yarmouth, Maine) scored two goals and assisted another during the run, which gave Babson a commanding 7-1 lead with eight minutes left to play. Gordon sophomore Matt Wolfe (Colonie, N.Y.) cut the deficit back to five with a goal at 7:06, but the Fighting Scots would get no closer as the Beavers cruised to the 10-2 victory.

Sophomore Nate Brawn (Topsham, Maine) scored three goals to lead Babson, while senior Tim Armenta (Kennebunk, Maine) joined Connell with three points. Collins and first-year Jonathan Wyeth (New London, N.H.) each added one goal and one helper, while junior goalie Dave Frascogna (Orchard Park, N.Y.) made four saves in net.

Sophomore Jeremy Collins (Sea Cliff, N.Y.) finished with 10 saves in goal for Gordon.
