|BABSON PARK, Mass. -- Western New England College outscored host Babson College, 8-1, in the second half on its way to a 16-7 victory in Pilgrim League men’s lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Golden Bears improve to 5-4 overall and 0-1 in the conference, while the Beavers fall to 2-5 overall and 0-1 in the Pilgrim League.
Babson stayed with WNEC throughout the first half, trailing 5-4 after one quarter and 8-6 at the break. However, the Golden Bears scored four unanswered goals in the third quarter to build a 12-6 advantage, and the Beavers never threatened as WNEC cruised to the 16-7 final.
Junior CJ Annunciata (Waltham, Mass.) led WNEC with four goals and six assists, while first-year Adam Cherry (Westfield, Mass.) and senior co-captain Marco Le Gette (Severna Park, Md.) each added four goals and one assist in the victory.
Babson received two goals each from senior Tim Armenta (Kennebunk, Maine) and sophomore Mike O’Connell (Dedham, Mass.), as well as one goal and one assist from first-year Jonathan Wyeth (New London, N.H.). Junior goalkeeper Dave Frascogna (Orchard Park, N.Y.) went the distance in net for Babson, finishing with 10 saves.
