BRUNSWICK, Maine - Micah Moreau took a
feed in front from Hunter Walter and beat
goaltender Tyler Volpe just under the crossbar to
give the Bowdoin men's lacrosse team a 10-9
overtime win against Connecticut College this
afternoon. The Polar Bears pick up their second
overtime NESCAC win of the season after
defeating Williams in triple overtime on March
19, and move to 4-1 overall. The Camels drop to
1-4 overall with the loss.
Bowdoin got on the board early when Josh Allen
scored unassisted at 11:14 of the first. The Camels
rebounded to take a 2-1 lead on two straight
scores by Kevin Burke. The Polar Bears scored
six of the next eight goals to take a 7-4 lead into
the break. Connecticut clamped down on defense
in the third frame, holding Bowdoin to only one
score, and inching back into the contest with a
pair of their own. The Camels drew to within one
goal on a score by Burke with 5:38 left, and then
knotted the contest with just 2:51 remaining on a
score by Ryan Childs. Given a man-up
opportunity late in regulation, the Camels failed to
convert as Bowdoin's P.J. Prest came up with a
big save to keep the game tied. Bowdoin gained
an extra-man opportunity in overtime and took
advantage, as Moreau notched the game-winner
just 2:11 into the period.
Hunter Walter had two goals and two assists to
lead the Polar Bears in scoring, while Prest made
eight saves in the contest. The Camels were led
by Burke's four goals and one assist, as Volpe
made five stops. |
