ORLANDO, Fla. - The Bowdoin College men's lacrosse team fell to St.
Lawrence this afternoon in Orlando, Fla, 11-9. The Polar Bears fall to
1-2 on the year, while the Saints improve to 3-0. Bowdoin will play one
more game in Florida, on Thursday against Clarkson.
Bowdoin took a 4-1 lead in the first frame, but the Saints rallied to
score seven of the game's next nine goals to take a 7-6 edge at
intermission. The teams scored a goal apiece setting up a tense final
quarter. The Saints took a two-goal edge to start the fourth before
Bowdoin closed to within one at 10-9 on a goal by Kyle Courtiss with
1:28 remaining. The Polar Bears could not manage to tie it, however, as
the Saints' Josh Feine scored with 38 seconds remaining to clinch the win.
Bowdoin's Grant White made 14 saves, while St. Lawrence's Stephen
Salotti made 18 stops. Bowdoin was led offensively by Phil Stern (4
goals, 2 assists) and Courtiss (3 goals, 1 assist). Feine had four goals
to lead the Saints.
