CENTERVILLE, Mass. Cabrini men's lacrosse junior Damian Sobieski has been named Corvais Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Mid-Atlantic Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the organization announced. Sobieski helped the Cavaliers earn their 14th consecutive CSAC Championship and a berth in the 2014 NCAA Tournament. Sobieski totaled 17 points in two games last week, as the Blue and White topped Neumann 25-7 in the CSAC semifinal round before downing Marywood 25-5 in the title game. Sobieski led the Cavaliers with eight points on five goals and three assists in the win over Neumann. The junior scored the game's first two goals, including the first goal of the game just 29 seconds into play. By the end of the first quarter, Sobieski had recorded a hat trick and an assist. Sobieski earned Most Valuable Player accolades after tallying a career high nine points in the CSAC championship game, including a career best seven goals. Three of the junior's goals came in a 48 second span midway through the second quarter. On the season, Sobieski ranks among the nation's leaders scoring, ranking second in Division III with 67 goals, while his 81 total points are good for 19th. The junior has also accounted for 32 ground balls and four caused turnovers. Sobieski and the No. 7 Cavaliers (16-1) will make their 13th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance tonight, as they welcome the University of Mary Washington to Edith Robb Dixon Field at 7:00p.m.
