| Radnor, PA - Sophomore Matt Campbell scored five goals, and junior Mark
Phillips added three goals and an assist to lead Cabrini College (14-2)
to a 20-5 win over Villa Julie College in the Pennsylvania Athletic
Conference Men's Lacrosse Championship Game. With the win, the Cavaliers
earn their third consecutive berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
The title was Cabrini's fourth in a row and concluded the Cavaliers fourth consecutive perfect season in the PAC. The Cavaliers have now won 29 consecutive Conference games in that span. Cabrini took control of the contest in the second quarter on Saturday. After outscoring Villa Julie (6-10) 5-2 in the first quarter, the Cavaliers scored 15 of the game's next 16 goals to secure the win. In the second quarter alone, the Cavaliers outscored Villa Julie 9-1 to take a 14-3 lead at the break. Campbell scored three times in the second quarter, Phillips added two goals and one assist, and freshman Steve Hill had a goal and two assists in the stanza. A Villa Julie run never materialized in the second half, as Campell scored twice in the third quarter, both assisted by Hill, and Cabrini took a 19-3 lead into the fourth quarter. Senior Antonio Masone made six saves to earn the win for Cabrini. Masone has allowed a total of seven goals in his three Championship Game starts. Villa Julie was led by Travis Hinkle's two goals and one assist. |
