| RADNOR, Pa. (March 24) -- The Cabrini Cavaliers opened up their defense of the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference title with a decisive 11-1 win over visiting Wesley College in men’s lacrosse action Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers (4-2 overall, 1-0 PAC) blew open a close game by playing stifling second half defense and with a 7-0 scoring run in the third. Scott Reimer, a sophomore out of Downingtown West High School, led the rally, scoring five Cabrini goals in the run to put the game out of reach. After a scoreless first period, the Cavaliers crawled out to a 2-1 halftime lead behind two goals from Casey Grugan, on feeds from Paul Romanelli and Reimer. Dan Skeels scored Wesley’s only goal on an assist from Jeff Montgomery at the 14:06 mark of the first quarter. Reimer opened up the scoring in the fourth period with a goal at the 14:37 mark and added another with 9:56 remaining. Also scoring for Cabrini were Dan DeRosa and Paul Romanelli (two assists). Cabrini’s All-American goalie Kevin Quinn turned away 13 shots in the win. Wesley’s Nick Allen turned back 19 shots in the loss. Next up for the Cavaliers is a home PAC game against Misericordia Wednesday at 6 p.m. |
