#1 Castleton Advances to NAC Final with 15-7 Win Over #4 Johnson State

Castleton, VT - Ryan Bartlett had two goals and three assists to lead first-seeded Castleton State College to a 15-7 win over fourth-seeded Johnson State College in North Atlantic Conference menís lacrosse semifinal action Wednesday afternoon.

Bartlettís two-goal performance paced nine different Spartan scorers as Castleton advances to its sixth-consecutive NAC Final.

After Jake Rick and Steve Noyes traded goals, the Spartans scored three unanswered to finish the first period. Kevin McCarthy put home a Rick assist, and Drew Shea scored five seconds later after scooping up his own face off and scoring. Rick ended the run off a Bartlett assist to round out the first period.

Johnson State grabbed the first goal of the second period as Noyes put home an Erik Tillberg assist to make it 4-2 with 10:01 remaining in the first half. Castleton went on a 7-0 run over the next 15 minutes to put the game away. Bartlett had one goal and two assists, while Phil Barry added one goal and three assists during the surge.

Tillberg led the Badgers with three goals and two assists, while Matt Riani and Casey Riley each had a single goal. Brendan Sawyer stopped 14 shots in the loss as Johnson Stateís season ends at 7-5.

Rick and Kevin McCarthy both finished the day with two goals and two assists, while Shea, Daniel Luzzi and Michael Martinez each had two goals.

Castleton will host the championship Saturday at 1:00 pm versus five-time conference champion, and second-seeded Mount Ida who advanced by way of a 13-5 win over Maine Maritime.
