| WASHINGTON, DC - Goucher's all-time record against Catholic improved to 9-0 today when the Gophers defeated the Cardinals, 9-6. The Gophers (7-3, 4-1 Capital Athletic Conference) led 1-0 after the first period thanks to a goal by Dan Flamholz (Baltimore, MD/Park School). The sophomore attackman tallied his team-leading 19th goal of the season during the second quarter, helping Goucher expand its lead to 5-3 at halftime. Mike Zirrolli (Annapolis, MD/Broadneck) scored twice in the third quarter for the Gophers, who carried an 8-4 advantage into the final period. Tom Alexander and Phil Reinckens both scored a pair of goals for the Cardinals (6-4, 2-3 Capital Athletic Conference). In goal, Goucher's Reeves Craig (San Antonio, TX/St. Mary's Hall) was credited with 12 saves and Catholic's Andrew Couden stopped 10 shots. |
