Tracy (Baltimore, MD/St. Paul's) combined to score nine goals and hand out four
assists, Rich Bayly (Melrose, NY/La Salle Institute) won 15 face-offs and
sophomore goalkeeper Reeves Craig (San Antonio, TX/St. Mary's Hall) made a
career-high 18 saves as Goucher improved its all-time record against Catholic
to 6-0 with a convincing 16-4 triumph this afternoon.|
Goals from five different players staked the Gophers to a 5-0 lead before the
Cardinals (5-6, 0-5 Capital Athletic Conference) got on the scoreboard on a
goal by Ryan Welsh with 2:21 remaining in the opening period. Tracy scored
twice in the second quarter as Goucher extended its cushion to 9-1 by halftime.
A pair of goals by Montgomery in the first four minutes of the second half put
Goucher (6-5, 3-2 Capital Athletic Conference) ahead 11-1. The sophomore
attackman tallied the Gophers' final goal of the third quarter and their first
goal of the fourth period and now leads the team in goals scored this season
In addition to winning 15 of the 23 face-offs he attempted, Bayly scooped up 14
ground balls and was credited with an assist on a fourth-period goal by James
Clement (Dallas, TX/Episcopal School).
Craig's goals-against average dropped to 6.27 and his save percentage improved
to .663 with his 18-save performance today. His previous career-high for saves
in a game was 16.
