The Game Story:
WORCESTER, MASS. 04/18/09 - The MIT men's lacrosse team spoiled Clark University's Senior Day with an 11-3 victory in a Pilgrim League game played at Granger Field on Saturday afternoon. Winners of five straight, the Engineers raise their record to 7-5 overall and 4-1 in league play. Clark drops to 2-11 and 1-3.

MIT was led by senior Dylan Roden (Bellport, N.Y.), who recorded four goals. Junior Corey Garvey (Garden City, N.Y.) added three goals, while senior Ryan Ballentine (Simsbury, Conn.) and freshman Ernie Park (Plainsboro, N.J.) each dished out a pair of assists.

The Engineers built a 3-0 lead thanks to a pair of goals from Garvey in the opening quarter.

Clark responded with its first goal at the 7:51 mark of the second period. Senior Shawn Roche (Centerport, N.Y.) fired a shot past MIT goalie Garth Grove (Jarrettsville, Md.) to cut the deficit to 3-1. The visitors then rattled off eight unanswered goals highlighted by a trio from Roden to put the game out of reach.

Roche and freshman Chris Johnson (Amherst, Mass.) scored the final two goals of the game to account for the 11-3 final.

Sophomore Tim Roche (Centerport, N.Y.) paced Clarks defense with a game-high eight groundballs. Senior Tyler Campbell (Portland, Ore.) had a solid outing in goal, stopping 21 shots.

Grove made 13 saves for MIT.

MIT held advantages in shots (38-25) and groundballs (39-25) in the win.

Prior to today's contest, seniors David Schubereth (East Brunswick, N.J.), Drew Silverman (Nashua, N.H.), and tri-captains Jeff DeLuca (Ashland, Mass.), Shawn Roche and Tyler Campbell were honored for playing in their final regular season home game.

Clark will play at Massachusetts Maritime Academy on Tuesday (7 p.m.). MIT will host Wheaton College on Wednesday (7 p.m.).
