The Game Story:
WORCESTER, MASS. 4/28/07 – The Clark University men’s lacrosse team had their regular season-finale spoiled with a 12-6 Pilgrim League loss to MIT on Senior Day at Granger Field on Saturday afternoon.

Clark concludes the season at 6-8 (1-7 Pilgrim). MIT improves to 6-6 overall and 4-3 in league play.

Andrew Webber (Allendale, N.J.) led the Cougars with three goals. Jon Ponte (Arlington, Mass.), J.C. Tsagarakis (Stonington, Conn.) and Tyler Campbell (Portland, Ore.) each tallied single goals.

Tyler Sorba (San Anaelmo, Cali.) had five goals and two assists to lead MIT, while Brennan Sherry (Wayland, Mass.) finished with three goals. Jonathan Stolmeier (San Antonio, Tx.) had a game-high four assists for the Engineers.

MIT jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a pair of first quarter goals by Sorba and Corey Garvey (Garden City, N.Y.). Clark got on the board when Webber rifled an unassisted goal by MIT goalie Zach Brewer (Durham, N.C.) at the 11:49 mark of the second period. The teams traded goals with MIT’s Sherry netting his first goal of the day at 11:12 and Ponte finding the back of the net just 53 ticks later for a 2-3 Clark deficit. MIT notched the next six goals – four man-up – to take a 9-2 lead and would never look back.

Clark made a late rally in the fourth quarter after Tsagarakis and Webber scored within a 2:16 stretch to make it 4-9, but MIT answered with a pair of man-up goals and an even tally to increase its lead (12-4). Webber scored his final goal of the day at 5:14, before Campbell raced from the Clark goal to put one past his counterpart with :12 seconds remaining in the game. It was his first goal of the season.

Campbell finished with 12 saves for Clark. Brewer made 10 stops for MIT.

Prior to the game, seniors Chris Sataline (Berlin, Conn.), Matt Arnold (Brookline, Mass.), Grant Tremelling (Marlboro, Mass.) and Dave Breglio (West Springfield, Mass.) were honored for playing in their final home game.
