The Game Story:


A late flurry in the third quarter and a strong fourth-quarter effort by Connecticut College resulted in a 12-6 loss for the Clarkson University Lacrosse team at Hantz Field on Wednesday afternoon.



The Camels broke open a tight 4-3 game at the half by outscoring the Golden Knights 4-2 in the third quarter and 4-1 over the final 15 minutes to double up the Green and Gold.



Junior midfielder Tyler Long (Liverpool, NY) led Clarkson in scoring with three goals and one assist. Sophomore Eric Gollands (Chelmsford, MA) and freshman Matt McCabe (Syracuse, NY) recorded one goal and two assists each. Sophomore Matt Cyr (Cheshire, CT) also added a goal.



Connecticut’s Steve Dachille led all scorers with four goals.



Connecticut College (3-0) outshot Clarkson 32-26 and held a 34-23 advantage in ground balls. Junior Jon Furgal (New Hartford, NY) led the Knights with three ground balls.



Freshman Ryan Cole (Orchard Park, NY) started in the Clarkson goal and made one first-half save. Classmate Kyle Hohmann (Rochester, NY) played the final 30 minutes in the Knights’ net and turned aside six of 14 shots.



At 0-4, Clarkson faces a challenging task in its next game when it plays at national powerhouse Cortland State on Saturday in a 2:00 p.m. contest.
