Clarkson vs. Hamilton

The Game Story:

In a tight, defensive Liberty League contest, Hamilton College enjoyed the better of the play in the first and fourth quarters and was able to pull out a 9-6 win on the road over the Clarkson University Menís Lacrosse team under the lights at Hantz Turf Field on Saturday night.

The Continentals (8-2, 2-2 Liberty League) scored the lone goal in the opening 15 minutes and tallied both goals in the fourth quarter in their second straight victory on the road. In between, both teams combined for six goals, two each in the second frame and four apiece in the third quarter.

Hamiltonís Henry Burchenal led all scorers with a game-high three goals.

Six different players scored one goal apiece for the Golden Knights, who fell to 3-10 overall and 2-2 in the conference. Juniors Tyler Long (Liverpool, NY) and Mitch Collins (Baldwinsville, NY), sophomores Matt Cyr (Cheshire, CT) and Bryan Huff (Hillsborough, NJ), and freshmen John Devine (Orchard Park, NY) and Brendon Shearin (Goffstown, NH) tallied for the Green and Gold.

Hamilton outshot Clarkson 34-30 and held a 24-18 advantage in ground balls. Freshman Ryan Cole (Orchard Park, NY) had another strong game in the Clarkson goal with a 14-save effort.

Junior Jon Frugal (New Hartford, NY) scooped up a team-high four ground balls for the Knights.

Clarkson returns to action next Saturday with a Liberty League matchup at Union College in Schenectady, NY, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
