CLARKSON CRUISES BY MESSIAH, 12-3

The Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team jumped out to a 6-1 first-quarter lead en route to its second straight victory during its spring trip in Florida as the Golden Knights cruised by 19th-ranked Messiah College 12-3 in Port Richie on Tuesday. At 2-1, Clarkson plays Bowdoin College on Thursday in the final game of its southern trip.

Junior Sean Pearce (Auburn, NY) paced the Clarkson attack figuring in on eight of the Knights' 12 scores, tallying two goals and six assists. Sophomore Joe Zebrowski (Liverpool, NY) and freshman Dustin Mackin (Falmouth, ME) posted seven and three saves respectively for the Knights, who shutdown Messiah (2-2) in the second half after taking a 7-3 lead through the opening 30 minutes.

Senior Marty Reid (Hamburg, NY) scored two goals and two assists, while classmate Marc Douglas (Clay, NY) chipped in two goals. Junior Patrick Ryan (Canton, NY) added two goals and one assist. Sophomore Brian Murphy (Camillus, NY) tallied one goal and one assist. Sophomores Andrew Branson (Marcellus, NY) and Rich Burritt (Oswego, NY) and freshman A.J. Heiligman (Webster, NY) rounded out Clarkson's goal scorers with one goal apiece. Senior Ryan Bodkin (East Amherst, NY) and junior Dan Amedro (Syracuse, NY) set-up one goal each.
