|Potsdam, NY - The Clarkson University Lacrosse team made amends for its only regular season loss
last year by dominating Plattsburgh State 12-3 in a non-conference game at SUNY Potsdam on
Wednesday afternoon. The Golden Knights, who have won five straight after dropping their
season-opener, stand at 5-1 overall and are ranked 18th nationally in the latest STX/USILA Division
III Coaches Poll. Clarkson is now off until April 5 when it opens the Upstate College Athletic
Association (UCAA) campaign at Vassar College.
Against Plattsburgh, the Knights dominated from the start as junior Sean Pearce (Auburn, NY)
scored just 59 seconds after the opening faceoff. Clarkson jumped out to a 4-0 first-quarter lead and
extended it to 7-1 at the half. Clarkson built its lead to 10-1 after 45 minutes of play and then traded
two goals apiece with the Cardinals in the fourth quarter. Plattsburgh suffered its first loss of the year
after starting out 3-0.
Junior midfielder Patrick Ryan (Canton, NY) led the Green and Gold offensively with three goals and
one assist. Pearce and sophomore Brian Murphy (Camillus, NY) each scored twice. Seniors Matt
Diana, (Marshfield, MA), Marc Douglas (Clay, NY) and Greg Arnold (East Amherst, NY), and
sophomores Andrew Branson (Marcellus, NY) and Richard Burritt (Oswego, NY) chipped in one
In goal for Clarkson, sophomore Joe Zebrowski (Liverpool, NY) made nine saves on 11 shots
through 48 minutes of action, while senior Brian Pratt (Randolph, NJ) stopped two of three shots in
12 minutes of playing time.
