The Game Story:
Potsdam, NY - After it appeared as if momentum had shifted to the opposition, the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team ripped off six goals in the final 12 minutes to take a 10-7 victory over the Red Hawks Saturday afternoon at Potsdam State's Turf Field.

The Golden Knights improved to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in Liberty League games, while Rensselaer absorbed its first conference loss of the season to fall to 5-4 overall and 3-1 in league games.

Through the first three periods, the teams were knotted up at 4-4 as both teams struggled to get many shots on the cage. In fact, neither team scored for nearly an entire quarter until Rensselaer took a 5-4 lead with 12:55 remaining in the contest. From there, it was all Clarkson as Greg Gibbons (Baldwinsville, NY) scored his first goal of the game at 11:59. A minute later, RPI retook the lead, but Clarkson ran off four straight goals to take a three-point edge. Gibbons iced the contest in the final minute with his third goal of the game with 42 seconds remaining.

Gibbons and Tyler Long (Liverpool, NY) each scored three times to lead the Knights. Senior Tom Ross (Adams, NY) added a goal and two assists while his brother Mike Ross (Adams, NY) added a goal. Freshman Bryan Huff (Hillsborough, NJ) and senior Jon Cathcart (Homer, NY) each scored a goal and Erik Hilfinger (Ann Arbor, MI) added an assist.

For Rensselaer, Paul Cerone led all scorers with four points on three goals and an assist. Brett Evans contributed three goals and Nick Billy also added a score.

Clarkson held advantages in shots (32-17) and ground balls (38-25). Pat Kilday (Westford, MA) proved to be a key figure for the Knights in the second half, winning six of his seven faceoffs and scooping up five groundballs. Jon Furgal (New Hartford, NY) also won six faceoffs and had six ground balls for the Knights.

Ryan DeJordy made nine saves for Rensselaer, while John Szvoren (Hamburg, NY) stopped two shots for the Knights.
