|Tigers drop 2005 opener to Lynchburg|
A second-half rally fell short for Colorado College on Saturday as the Tigers dropped an 8-6 decision to Lynchburg College in their NCAA Division III season opener at Washburn Field. The visiting Hornets, 3-0, scored six times in the second quarter to turn a 2-2 deadlock into an 8-3 halftime lead. Ryan Cranston had a hand in seven goals for Lynchburg, scoring three and assisting on four. Matt Gurba tallied twice for CC, which was outshot by a 35-31 margin overall but finished with a 23-20 advantage on goal. Hornets goalie Garrett Curran made 17 saves, including 11 in the second half when his teammates were unable to beat Colorado College’s Chris Shopneck.
