The Game Story:
NEW LONDON, Conn.--Mark Moran (Greenwich, Conn.) collected 11 of his 17 saves in the second half to lead the Connecticut College men´s lacrosse team (5-7, 1-6) to a 14-8 NESCAC win against Colby College (6-5, 2-4) in New London Saturday. Rory O´Connor (Haverford, Pa.) set the tone for the hosts, netting two of his three goals in the opening 4:37 of regulation.

Steve Dachille (Garden City, N.Y.) erupted with three goals and three assists for the Camels, extended their winning streak to seven games in this NESCAC rivalry. Ben Eischen (Brookfield, N.H.) had two goals and two assists for the winning side.

Colby College senior Todd Boertzel (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) contributed two goals and an assist in the setback for the visitors. Craig Bunker (Topsfield, Mass.) corralled 14 ground balls for Colby and was an efficient 17-of-26 on face-offs. Senior net-minder Alex Farmer (Madison, Conn.) had nine saves in a complete game effort between the pipes for the Mules.

Will Schumann (East Hampton, N.Y.) set up the game´s first goal. The junior defender collected a ground ball and sprinted from one end of the field to the other, connecting with O´Connor on the wing for a score at 11:23. One minute later, O´Connor took a feed from Sean Driscoll (Peabody, Mass.) and rifled home his second score of the day. The Camels caught the Mules in transition on their third goal and took full advantage of an unsettled situation. Moran hit Eischen with an outlet pass near sideline and the senior sprinted straight to the cage for a goal.

Colby responded though, coming up with three of the next four tallies. Caddy Brooks (Darien, Conn.) scored with 48 seconds left and the Mules trailed 4-3 after one quarter of play. The Camels came out firing with a 4-0 run at the start of the second quarter. Hayes buried his 20th goal of the season at 13:53 to make it a 5-3 game. O´Connor completed his hat-trick with the next goal at 12:11. Rob Walsh (Charlestown, R.I.) and Eischen closed out the run with scores and the Camels were in control with an 8-3 advantage.

Boertzel got one back for the Mules with 3:28 remaining, but the Camels closed out the half with two more goals. Eric Doran (Pennington, N.J.) put the finishing touches on the quarter, finding the back of the net with just 7.2 seconds remaining and Connecticut College enjoyed a 10-4 advantage at the intermission.

The Mules pushed the Camels in the early stages of the third quarter. Boertzel connected with Chris Healy (New Canaan, Conn.) for a goal at 12:45 and Brooks put in an unassisted tally with 11:25 remaining to make it a 10-6 game. Moran slammed the door shut for most of the rest of the way, coming up with six saves in the third quarter of his best start of the season.

The Camels scored the next four goals to put this game away. Dachille assisted Phips Smith (Far Hills, N.J.) on back-to-back goals and close out the run with his 26th score of the season to make it a 14-6 game with 9:30 remaining in the game.
