The Game Story:
NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College Camels (7-5) cruised to a 14-3 victory against Wheaton College (3-8) in menīs lacrosse action played on Freeman Field Tuesday afternoon. Freshman Ryan Hayes (Darien, Conn.) had two goals and four assist to lead the Camels in a six point performance. Steve Dachille (Garden City, N.Y.) added four goals for the hosts. Junior Jesse Stevenson (Marshfield, Mass.) chipped in with two goals and two assists for the Camels, who have outscored the opposition 30-to-5 in the last two games combined.

Drew Schaffer (New Haven, Conn.), Chris Landers (Manchester, Mass.) and Warren Garceau (Guilford, Conn.) each contributed with a goal for Wheaton.

With 11:35 remaining in the opening quarter, Hayes opened the scoring for the hosts. The Lyons responded with 4:43 to play. Jeff Gomer (Duxbury, Mass.) collected a ground ball and connected with Landers in an unsettled situation for the equalizer. But the Camels answered by scoring twice in the final minute of the quarter. Dachille made it a 2-1 game with 53 seconds remaining, collecting his own rebound and rifling one home from point-blank distance. With just nine seconds to go, Jesse Stevenson assisted Kevin Nally (Ridgewood, N.J.) for a score and the hosts had a 3-1 lead.

Wheaton opened the second quarter scoring with a goal from Schaffer that cut the lead to one with 12:31 to play. The Camels countered with four unanswered goals, building a comfortable five goal lead. Brendan Moses (Medfield, Mass.) assisted Hayes for the seventh goal of the half with 6:36 remaining in the half and the Camels enjoyed a 7-2 lead. Wheaton got one back with 2:26 remaining but Ben Eischen answered for the Camels with an unassisted tally and the Camels carried an 8-3 advantage into the break.

Dachille scored two of the first three goals in the second half and the Camels continued to extend their lead. Conor Malangone (Lake Grove, N.Y.) closed out the scoring with a pair of goals in the fourth quarter to complete the 14-3 victory.

Sophomore Mark Moran (Greenwich, Conn.) had seven saves in net for the Camels. Bro Smith (Wellesley, Mass.) had two saves in relief duty. Sophomore Alex Lewis (Westfield, N.J.) had nine saves for the Lyons.

Peter Musser (Lafayette, Calif.) won 10-of-18 faceoffs for the hosts. Gomer finished with a game-high eight ground balls for Wheaton, winning six draws for the visitors.
