| MILTON, Mass. (March 23, 2006) - The Mount Ida College men's lacrosse team ran its win streak to three games with a 7-5 victory over non-conference foe Curry College this afternoon at the Walter M. Katz Athletic Field. Mount Ida trailed 4-2 at the half, but scored four answered goals in the third quarter and added one more in the fourth to seal things. Senior Matt Ramieor (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) and freshman Brett Conley (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield) registered three points apiece to lead the Mustangs attack. They each tallied two goals and an assist, while junior Vince Pizzimenti (Gloucester, Mass./Gloucester) added a pair of markers, and sophomore Alex Champagne (East Greenwich, R.I./Rocky Hill) chipped in with a goal. Goaltender Bryan Smith (Worcester, Mass./St. Peter Marian) was solid between the pipes for the Mustangs. The junior stopped six shots for his second triumph of the season. Curry received solid production from juniors Alex Savioli (Milton, Mass.) and Chandler Mertz (Milton, Mass.), who netted two goals each. Senior Colin Kott (Guilford, Conn.) made 15 saves in net for the Colonels. Mount Ida (3-1, 0-0 NAC) opens its home slate versus out-of-league opponent Daniel Webster College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Curry (2-3, 0-0 CCC) will also be in action on Saturday, when it hosts New England College for its first Commonwealth Coast Conference clash of the 2006 campaign. |
