| Nichols Tops Eagles, 14-5 (Manchester, N.H.) – Peter Smyth (Bedford, Mass.) notched a game high five goals and Tim Clark (Woburn, Mass.) added three goals and three assists to lead Nichols past host Daniel Webster, 14-5 in a non-league men’s lacrosse matchup played at Larkin Field at Southern New Hampshire University Monday. Harley Cole added two goals and an assist, Lucas Wilson (Falmouth, Mass.) scored twice and Sean Tarrant (Norwalk, Conn.) set up two others as the Bison evened their record on the season at 1-1. Brandon Bell (Loudon, N.H.) led the Eagles (0-2) with three goals, while Colby Field (Hollis, N.H.) and John Estey (Newington, Conn.) added single scores. Brian Abrahamson ( Dedham, Mass.) added two assists. Chris Keating (Waltham, Mass.) notched 16 saves in goal for the winners, while Eagle Adam McKellar (Biddeford, Maine) made 13 saves in the loss. Nichols built a 4-0 lead through the first quarter on scores from Harley Cole, Smyth, Wilson and Mark Buckley (Weymouth, Mass.). The Eagles got on the board with 46 seconds left on Bell’s first of the game. Bell added his second 1:48 into the second for a 4-2 contest, but Clark answered 1:56 later, Matt Dibona (Centerville, Mass.) followed with a score at the 6:47 mark and Clark added his second of the day with 3:57 to go for a 7-2 Bison lead at the half. Quick strikes from Estey (11:01) and Field (8:52) kept the Eagles close at 8-4, but Clark notched his third with 6:23 to go in the stanza and the Eagles pulled no closer. Smyth added two goals in the third and fourth quarters, respectively. The Eagles return to action Wednesday as they host Johnson State at SNHU in their North Atlantic Conference season opener at 2:00 p.m. Nichols travels to Endicott Saturday for a Noon matchup. |
