Dickinson vs. Kenyon

The Game Story:
(Carlisle, PA) --The Dickinson College men's lacrosse team, ranked 14th in the latest coaches' poll, improved to 2-0 on the season with a 13-8 win over Kenyon College. The Red Devils scored four goals in the third period and three in the first, second and fourth while holding the Lords to just two goals in each quarter.

Dickinson put three goals on the board to open the game before Kenyon answered with two scores in the final 4:16 to give the Devils a 3-2 lead after one period. Brian Read (Timonium, MD/Boys' Latin) scored two of his four goals in the second period as Dickinson took a 6-4 advantage at halftime.

Kenyon pulled within one at the 12:27 mark of the third period as Noah Fessel scored to begin the second half. The Devils responded with three straight goals as junior Ed Lawless (Abington, PA/LaSalle) sandwiched a pair of goals around Read's fourth tally of the day. Lawless also finished with four goals and picked-up a team-best three groundballs.

Kenyon struck twice to start the fourth quarter, cutting the margin to 10-8 with 10:23 remaining in the game. The Red Devil defense would hold while the offense tacked on three more in the final five minutes. Senior Eddie Boyd (Owings Mills, MD/St. Paul's) and Lawless both scored unassisted and first-year Derek Still (Oreland, PA/Penn Charter) closed out the scoring off a Flynn Burch (Ruxton, MD/Loyola Blakefield) assist at the 1:26 mark. Read and Lawless both finished with a game-high four goals while Boyd added four assists to his goal. Still tallied two goals, both off assists from Burch.

Junior Bernie Nolan (Bowie, MD/Gonzaga) won 10-of-14 face-offs on the day while sophomore Scott Sporn (Bedford Corners, NY/Pomfret) claimed 5-of-10. Junior Kevin Riley (Westfield, NJ/Lawrenceville) was outstanding in goal, making 13 saves.

Junior Luke Larson led Kenyon (2-1) with four goals while Phil Edmunds won seven face-offs. Charlie Floeckher made five stops for Kenyon.

The Red Devils (2-0) travel to Lynchburg on Saturday for a 1:00 start, and return home to face Goucher College on Wednesday, March 15th at 3:30 pm.
