The Game Story:
CARLISLE, Pa. – Defending MAC Player of the Year Stephen Romano (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township) scored four goals to open his 2012 campaign at No. 3 DIckinson on Wednesday afternoon, but the Devils scored the game's first 10 goals en route to a 17-7 win in non-conference action.

The Devils jumped out with four goals in the first quarter and scored six more in the second quarter before Romano got the Warriors on the board with a man-up goal.

In the third quarter, Romano completed his hat trick in the third quarter, as he posted his second goal midway through the quarter on a give from senior Hank Runser (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill). After senior Ethan Payne (Farmington, N.Y./Victor) notched his first goal of the year, Romano found the back of the net on his third goal a minute later, cutting the Devils’ lead to 11 goals. Romano added another tally with 11 seconds in the half to help the Warriors tie the Devils, 4-4, in goal output in the period.

The Warriors cut the lead to nine goals early in the fourth quarter when sophomore Matt McCaffer (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) dented the twine with his first career goal. Payne added a second tally late in the final minute to help the Warriors finish the second half by playing the Devils to a 6-6 tie.

Payne and senior Tim Clemente (West Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) each led the Warriors with three groundballs.

Brian Cannon and Christian Beitel led the Devils (1-0 overall) with three goals and an assist each and Sam Abramson posted two goals and two assists. Chip Murray led the Devils with nine groundballs.

Sophomore Andrew Hauk (Sackets Harbor, N.Y./Immaculate Heart) made 20 stops in net for the Warriors while Greg Hanley and Max Pawk combined for nine stops for the Devils.

The Warriors open their home slate on Saturday, Feb. 25, when they host rival Susquehanna at 1 p.m. at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
