Devils Turn Back Swarthmore 10-6

(Carlisle, PA) - The Dickinson College men's lacrosse team posted a 10-6 Centennial Conference win over Swarthmore on Saturday to improve to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in the conference. Brian Read (Timonium, MD/Boy's Latin) and Flynn Burch (Ruxton, MD/Loyola Blakefield) each scored two goals and handed out two assists to lead the Red Devil attack.

The Devils jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the first period and went into halftime on top 5-3. The teams each struck twice in the third period to give the Devils a 7-5 advantage heading into the final quarter. Drew Peace (Lutherville, MD/Boys' Latin) made the score 8-5, finishing an assist from Read at the 11:20 mark.

Burch struck again with 5:30 left and junior Ed Boyd (Owings Mills, MD/St. Paul's) closed out the scoring on fastbreak with just over a minute remaining.

The Red Devils were solid in the midfield, going 8-of-8 on clears in the first half. They also held the Garnet to 3-of-6 in the third period and 14-of-21 for the game. Defensively, Matt Kogelschatz (Baltimore, MD/St. Paul's) anchored a strong effort and had five ground balls. Justin Marks (E. Falmouth, MA/Salisbury) and Ross Koenig (Bethesda, MD/Bullis) also helped trigger the Devils' in transition with a combined five ground balls as well.

Scott Dalgliesh (Chestertown, MD/Kent County) added a pair of goals while freshman Tyler Rose (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) had a goal and an assist. Kevin Riley (Westfield, NJ/Lawrenceville) made eight saves in goal for Dickinson.

Tim Chryssikos led the Garnet Tide (5-5, 1-3 CC) attack with a goal and three assists. Ryan McKenna picked up five ground balls and Frank Mazzucco had 12 saves.

The Red Devils host Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday at 4:00 pm.
