Dickinson vs. Mcdaniel

The Game Story:
(Carlisle, PA)- Before the season started it was apparent that there would be no easy games in the Centennial Conference for any men's lacrosse teams. The Dickinson College men suffered a 10-9 defeat to visiting McDaniel on Saturday in a game that could no have been much closer.

Gibbs Preston led the way on attack with two goals and three assists while Chris Edmonds tallied a hat-trick. The big story for the Green Terror, however, came on the other end of the field as senior goaltender Ben Yingling stopped 19 shots on the afternoon.

The game was tied 2-2 after one quarter and 4-4 at halftime. McDaniel pulled in front 6-5 before the Devils answered with three straight to take an 8-6 advantage in the third period.

The Green Terror came back with three own their own to regain the lead at 9-8. Derek Still (Oreland, PA/Penn Charter) evened things up at the 6:51 mark of the fourth before Bill Warner converted a Preston assist with an extra-man goal at 6:23.

McDaniel was able to hold on down the stretch to claim the win and improve to 8-6 and 3-5 in the Centennial Conference.

Eight different players scored for Dickinson as they slip to 9-5 overall and 5-3 in the CC. Ed Lawless (Abington, PA/LaSalle) struck twice for the Devils and had three ground balls.

Senior Bernie Nolan (Bowie, MD/Gonzaga) was outstanding once again on face-offs, winning 19-of-23 for the day. He also tallied a game-high 13 ground balls.

First-year Al Golod (Lloyd Harbor,NY/Cold Spring Harbor) added seven ground balls with a great effort defensively while Kevin Riley (Westfield, NJ/Lawrenceville) made seven saves.

The 18th-ranked Red Devils will face #17-ranked Washington College in the conference semifinals at Gettysburg next Friday.
