| (Carlisle, PA)- The Dickinson College men's lacrosse team posted a 13-4 win over York College on Wednesday afternoon. The Red Devils took a 3-1 lead after the first quarter and held a 5-2 advantage at halftime. The Devils scord six unanswered goals in the third quarter for an 11-3 lead. They tacked on a pair in the fourth while holding the Spartans to just one goal in each period. Senior Brian Mohler (Baltimorem MD/Loyola) led the attack with four goals and one assist. Sophomore Derek Still (Oreland, PA/Penn Charter) tallied three goals and handed out two assists. Drew Peace (Lutherville, MD/Boys' Latin) and Casey Finkelstein (Owings Mills, MD/McDonogh) each added a goal and two assists. Senior Bernie Nolan (Bowie, MD/Gonzaga) had a great afternoon, winning 13-of-17 face-offs and collecting a game-high 12 ground balls. Junior Scott Sporn (Bedford Corners, NY/Pomfret) came on in the fourth to win all four face-offs. Senior Tim Marshall (Phoenix, MD/Calvert Hall) and first-year Chris Breslin (Garden City, NY/Garden City) anchored an outstanding defensive effort. Kevin Riley (Westfield, NJ/Lawrenceville) stopped eight shots through the first three quarters. Sophomore Russ Matthews (Chestertown, MD/Kent County) came on to stop seven shots in the fourth. Matt Keeler made 18 saves in goal for York (2-3). Steve Mersinger controlled seven ground balls. The Red Devils improve to 4-2 on the season. The begin Centennial Conference play on Saturday, hosting Swarthmore College at 1:00 pm. |
