| Madison, NJ - Gil Arbitsman (Westfield, NJ) lit it up Thursday night with seven goals in Drew University's 13-6 season-opening win versus Kean University. The sophomore midfielder ignited for five first-half goals, including three in the first quarter. Tom Stitt Jr. closed out the first half notching a goal with just :02 remaining to give the Rangers a comfortable 7-2 lead heading into intermission. Kean's Tom Rossi (Oakland, NJ) netted two first-half goals before Arbitsman connected again with :02 left to play in the third quarter for his seventh goal of the game, one shy of tying the school's single-game record. Rossi reeled off one more goal for Kean to lead the Cougars' offense on the night. Kean falls to 0-3 after dropping their first two games last week while on spring break in California. Madison's Carl Parks registered one save in the cage for Kean. Jason Woodford (Timonium, MD) picked up five saves for Drew as the Rangers notch their first win of the 2005 season after having back-to-back scrimmages cancelled due to snowstorms. The Blue and Green depart Saturday for a spring break trip in Sanford, FL where they will play Kenyon on Sunday, followed by Vassar College on Wed. March 16. |
