| *MADISON**, **NJ** -*- * Tom Stitt, Jr. (Easton, PA) *ignited for five goals and an assist Monday night as Drew University sailed past King~Rs College 11-7 in Freedom Conference men~Rs lacrosse action. Senior midfielder *Craig Middleton (**South Setauket**, NY)* broke Drew~Rs single-game ground ball record with 21 on the night, surpassing Brian Loos~R 18 ground balls vs. Upsala College in 1994. The face-off specialist also won 14 of 17 face offs tonight. Stitt started things off late in the first quarter on a feed from Middleton to put Drew on the board at the 4:23 mark. King~Rs *Chris Landry (**Syracuse**, **NY**) *evened it up less than a minute later on a pass from *Adam Gabriel (**Johnson City**, **NY**). *Another Stitt connection and a score by freshman *David Elam *put the Rangers ahead 3-1. But *Ryan Thomas *tied the ballgame up for King~Rs on back-to-back goals midway through the first half. * * Stitt connected twice more in the second quarter before Middleton and *Dan Moffo (**West Hartford**, **CT**)* added a pair in the third quarter to blow the game open for Drew with a 7-3 advantage.* *The Rangers led 8-4 at the half, but increased the lead by as much as six goals (11-5) with 2:25 to play. Landry and Gabriel each found the back of the net once more for the Monarchs in the final minute. *Steve Matusiewicz *posted 21 saves in the Monarchs~R effort as King~Rs slips to 3-4 on the season and 1-2 in the Freedom Conference. Drew~Rs *Jason Woodford (Timonium, MD) *registered 22 on the night before giving way to freshman *Paul Kenyon (Basking Ridge, NJ)* to see some action in the final minutes as the Basking Ridge product grabbed one save. Tonight~Rs victory improves the Rangers to 4-2 overall as the Blue and Green remain undefeated at 3-0 in the Freedom Conference. The Rangers will play their third game in four days on Wednesday when they host crosstown rival FDU-Florham at 7:15 p.m. |
