Drew vs. Lycoming

The Game Story:
Madison, NJ -- The Drew University men^s lacrosse team let an early 3-0 lead get away from them as the Rangers fell 15-9 to Middle Atlantic Conference foe Lycoming College Saturday afternoon in Madison. The Rangers (1-11, 1-5 MAC) took an early lead on goals from junior Julian Buchbinder (Larchmont, NY), sophomore Eric Siegel (Culver City, CA), and senior Nate Matsui (Setauket, NY).

Drew held the Warriors, who are currently in 2nd place in the MAC, scoreless for 19:00 before senior midfielder Buddy Temple (Webster, NY) got Lycoming on the board at 11:18 in the second quarter. The Warriors (11-4, 8-1 MAC) ignited for a 3-0 run in the course of a minute on two goals from Sang Duong (Havertown, PA), and a middle goal by Temple, who flew down-field after receiving a pass from the face-off. With :56 remaining in the half, Duong fed Shaun Bonnes (Ridley Park, PA) to tie the game 6-6 at intermission.

With a 2nd half Drew goalie change from Mike Litman (Ellicott City, MD) to Jeremy Bank (Old Bethpage, NY), Warrior attackman Dan Wilcox (Corning, NY) hit back-to-back goals, giving Lycoming their first lead of the game. Litman returned to the cage, and allowed two goals of his own in a two-minute span before Drew^s Matsui scored off a check in the defensive third of the field. Matsui drilled another on a feed from midfielder Matt DeLuca (Ashland, MA) to cut Drew^s deficit to three (8-11) with 5:08 in the third quarter.

Lycoming^s Dave Kirschman (Newtown Square, PA) and Ryan Bergstom (Hagerstown, MD) each connected in the fourth quarter to give the Warriors a15-8 lead, before Matsui registered his fifth and Drew^s final goal of the game with 3:10 left to play.
