Drew vs. Messiah

The Game Story:
Madison, NJ - The Drew University men's lacrosse team made several scoring runs, but Messiah College didn't let the Rangers take the lead once throughout the game on Saturday. The Messiah Falcons eventually buried the Rangers, 15-7, as a snowfall broke out at the Drew turf.

Messiah scored first at 5:34 in the first period when Dan Videon (Newton Square, PA) assisted Alex Bitzer (Millersville, MD). They went on to score three more first period goals while holding Drew scoreless. Bitzer tallied two goals in the first period, while Videon had a goal and an assist. But Drew made a run in the second period as Craig Middleton (South Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) scored two goals, and Nate Matsui (Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) and Eric Seigel (Culver City, CA/Windward) each had a goal and an assist. The score was tied 5-5 at the half.

Matsui scored quickly for the Rangers, but it was the Falcons who entered the second half recharged and on fire. Messiah scored 10 consecutive goals and allowed none, to finish the game decisively on top, 15-7. Bitzer led all scorers with four goals and three assists, while Matsui paced Drew with three goals and an assist.

The next game for the Rangers will be on Sunday, April 14 at Elizabethtown College.
