| The Eastern University men's lacrosse team jumped to a 5-2 halftime lead, but a 9-1 second half gave the Scranton Royals an 11-6 win in the season-opener for both teams Saturday afternoon at Calvert Hall College High School. Junior Ben O’Donnell and sophomore Andrew Minnick led the Eagles, now 0-1, with two goals apiece and juniors Nick Mandia and Michael Ryan added one apiece. Junior goalie Zach Rivest made a game-high 11 saves. Junior attacker Nick Youngstrom tied his career-high with four goals and an assist and junior attacker Thomas Kornobis and freshman attacker Kyle Frank contributed two goals and three assists apiece as the Royals won their first season-opener since a 13-5 victory over Cabrini College on March 3, 1999. The Royals erased the three goal deficit with a 3-0 third period, and then put the game away with a 5-1 advantage in the final period. The Eagles return to action Wednesday with at Randolph Macon College. |
