The Game Story:
Elmira, NY – The Elmira College Men's Lacrosse team struggled in the second half, scoring just three times as it fell, 18-9 to visiting Alfred University Saturday afternoon at Campus Field. The win improves the Saxons to 4-9 overall and 1-4 in Empire 8 play, while the loss drops the Soaring Eagles to 3-6 overall and 0-3 in conference competition.

The first half was tightly played as neither team gained more than a goal lead in the first 30 minutes. TJ White '12 (Collegeville, PA -- Methacton) and Dustin Gatt '14 (Welland, ONT -- Notre Dame College) led EC with two goals apiece in the opening half, while David Evert '14 (Niagara Falls, NY -- Niagara Wheatfield) recorded a goal and two assists. The Saxons scored with 13 seconds left in the half to take a 7-6 lead into intermission.

Alfred outscored EC 10-2 in the third quarter to take a commanding 17-8 lead into the fourth quarter. Each team added a goal in the fourth as the Saxons easily prevailed to an 18-9 victory.

White led Elmira with three goals and one assist and picked up five ground balls, while Evert finished with two goals, two assists and three ground balls. Gatt tallied two goals, three ground balls and a team-high four caused turnovers.

Mike Knowlton '14 (Manchester, ME -- Maranacook) played all 60 minutes in net for EC making six saves. Cody O'Connor, Theo Tomczak and Justin Becker all split time in net for Alfred, combining to make 10 saves.

The EC Men's Lacrosse team returns to action Wednesday when they travel to Hoboken, NJ to take on Stevens Institute of Technology at 4:00 p.m.
