April 23, 2008
The Game Story:
ELMIRA, NY- The Alfred University menís lacrosse team won a 7-6 decision against visiting Elmira College Wednesday afternoon.

Alfred (4-7, 2-6 Empire 8) took advantage of 56 shots and four power play goals to lift them to a win in the conference finale for both teams.

Freshman attack Marc Zoyhofski (Blasdell, NY/Frontier) led the Saxons with two goals while freshman midfielder Justin Kieffer (Middletown, NY/Middletown), senior midfielder Andy Haynes (Rockford, MI/Rockford), freshman attack Matt Leslie (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) and senior midfielder Jeremy Florence (Unionvill, PA/Unionville) each found the back of the net once for the Saxons, with Florence and Haynes each adding an assist.

Elmira, trailing 7-4 at the start of the fourth quarter, made it a contest, scoring two goals in the final two minutes. Dan Frost netted his second goal of the contest with just under a minute to play but a stingy Saxon defense and failed man up opportunities proved to be the difference maker.

Alfred is in action next on Saturday, April 26, at home vs. Wells College at 1 p.m.
