The Game Story:
BEVERLY, MA - The Endicott College men's lacrosse team got back into the win column on Wednesday, as the Gulls defeated the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 14-7, in a non-conference lacrosse game in Beverly, MA.

The Gulls got on the board first as Dan Ryan (Billerica, MA/Billerica) took a feed from Nick Cosco (Londonderry, NH/Londonderry) and beat Zach Brewer (Durham, NC/Riverside) top shelf to put Endicott up 1-0. It didn't take long for the Engineers to respond, as Tyler Sorba (San Anaelmo, CA/The Branson School) found the back of the net just a minute later, knotting the game at 1-all. Josh Gilbert (Simsbury, CT/Simsbury) and Eddie O'Reilly (Beverly, MA/Beverly) scored on back-to-back possessions for Endicott in a span of just over a minute, putting the Gulls up 3-1. Tech's Jon Stolmeier (San Antonio, TX/St. Mary's Hall) cut the Gulls lead in half as he received a pass on the crease from Dylan Roden (Bellport, NY/Bellport) and snuck a bounce shot past Sean Kearney (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac), cutting Gulls advantage to 3-2. Dan Ryan put the Gulls back up two as he sliced his way to the front of the MIT cage and beat the netminder, putting the Blue and Green up 4-2 at the end of one.

After a see-saw first quarter the Gulls responded in the second. The Endicott offense rattled off five-straight goals while Sean Kearney and the Endicott defense shut the Engineers out over the next 15 minutes. Brad Lipkvich (Madison, CT/Avon Old Farms) notched his second of the game, while Eddie O'Reilly and Joe Gugino (West Hartford, CT/Conard) both got in on the scoring action. The five goal second quarter pushed the Gulls into the intermission with a commanding 9-2 lead.

Eddie O'Reilly broke a scoreless third quarter with a strong shot from 15-yards out, putting the Gulls up 10-2 at the seven minute mark of quarter three. Brandon Dube (Danvers, MA/Danvers) capitalized on an MIT turnover just four minutes later, as he broke the goal line on an uncontested shot to put the Gulls up nine. Moments later, Nick Cosco intercepted a clearing pass and beat Zach Brewer off-stick high, increasing the Gulls lead to 12-2. The Engineers broke Endicott's 29 minute shutout streak as Dylan Roden beat Endicott's Eric Hagarty (Sudbury, MA/Medford) with five ticks left in the third.

MIT opened the fourth with a quick goal from Tyler Sorba. The senior attackman dodged through the Gulls defense and beat Nate Barry (Chestertown, MD/Gunston), making the score 12-4. Josh Gilbert got the Endicott offense back on track at the 6:56 mark of the fourth, as he deked Brewer on the crease with a slick dip-n-dunk goal. The Engineers were able to notch two more scores in the fourth, but the Gulls were still able to cruise to the 14-7 win.

Both Eddie O'Reilly and CCC Player of the Week Josh Gilbert netted three goals and one assist apiece in for the Gulls. Sophomore attackman Nick Cosco dished out three assists in the winning effort for the Blue and Green. A trio of Endicott netminders, Sean Kearney, Eric Hagarty and Nate Barry, combined for 13 saves on the afternoon. MIT was led by Tyler Sorba's two goals, while senior goaltender Zach Brewer tallied 18 saves in the loss.

Endicott returns to action on Thursday night as they take on Wheaton College at 7:00 PM in Beverly, MA. The Gulls open conference play on Saturday afternoon when they travel to face-off with Roger Williams University at 2:30 PM.
