| Devils Hold-Off FDU-Floram For Second Win March 12, 2003 (Hoboken, NJ)-- The Dickinson College men's lacrosse team held off a late run by FDU-Floram for their second straight win to improve to 2-1 on the season. The Red Devils ended the game with a 5-1 run to capture a 14-11 decision. Dickinson led 3-2 after the first period and led 6-2 in the second before a pair of FDU goals in the final 1:11 cut the advantage to 6-4 at halftime. The Devils of FDU outscored Dickinson 5-3 in the third to tie the game 9-9 with one quarter remaining in the contest. FDU struck first just two minutes in to take its first lead of the game with 13:06 on the clock. Freshmen Ed Boyd (Owings Mills, Md/St. Paul's) and Mike Kirk (Orangeville, Ontario/Salisbury) struck to give the Red Devils the lead back at the 11:09 mark. Senior Jack Miner (Wexford, Pa/North Allegheny) then scored back-to-back insurance goals, and Dickinson held on for the win with solid defensive play down the stretch. Senior Jeremy Angell (Milton, Ma/Fryeburg Academy) led the way with four goals and one assist while Boyd and Miner each finished with natural hat-tricks. The Red Devil defense remained perfect on the year in man-down situations, turning back three extra-man opportunities by FDU. Sean McGowan (Glens Falls, NY/Kimball Union Academy) made eight stops on the afternoon in the Red Devil goal. Dickinson travels to Chestertown, Maryland on Saturday to face 10th-ranked Washington College at 2:00 pm. Boxscore |
