| HAVERFORD, PA -- Franklin & Marshall College midfielder Jon Singer
(Sr., Reisterstown, MD/Boys' Latin) scored four goals and handed out
three assists to lead the Diplomats' men's lacrosse team to a 16-2
victory versus Haverford College. Scoreless after the first quarter, F&M exploded for five goals in the second quarter to take a 5-1 lead. The team expanded the lead to 14-2 with a 9-1 advantage in goals in the third and tacked on two in the fourth for the 14-goal victory. The win runs F&M's record to a Centennial Conference best 6-0, as the #14 nationally ranked Diplomats remain atop the Conference standings with a perfect 2-0 mark. Further, the victory extends the Diplomats' winning streak to seven games dating back to an 18-3 rout of the University of Scranton in the 2002 ECAC South Men's Lacrosse title game. For his career, Singer now has 79-40-119, 21 goals short of surpassing Paul Friedman '75 (99) for eighth place in goals scored in F&M history. In addition to Singer, Bryan Nolan (Sr., Scottsdale, AZ/Western Reserve) scored four goals and dished out two assists, while Bas Solleveld (Jr., Glenmoore, PA/Shipley) scored three and added an assist to pace the Diplomats' offense. In goal, Mike Sartorius (So., Summit, NJ/Summit) recorded seven saves with two goals allowed on ten Haverford shots in 45 minutes of play. Rob Hamilton (Fr., Monkton, MD/Gilman) made one save and Will McIntire (So., Arlington, VA/Taft) recorded two saves on four shots while splitting time in the fourth quarter. F&M will continue the season on Wednesday, March 26 at home on Williamson Field versus Goucher College at the Haverford School. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. |
